New Citybus driver recruits will enjoy two days off after working three days, the bus company said yesterday.
Citybus said the special recruitment campaign targets the Gen Z workforce - those born between 1997 to 2012 who are generally believed to prioritize work-life balance and want more holidays to "recharge."
Bus captains recruited under the campaign could enjoy additional rest days and a remuneration package comparable to full-time bus captains, and incorporates dependent travel passes, 24 weeks of full paid maternity, and two weeks of full paid paternity leave, the company said.
In response to The Standard's inquiry, Citybus said current bus captains can apply under the recruitment campaign.By counting working an average of 10 hours every day, a three-day bus captain would receive a monthly salary of up to HK$21,000 plus HK$6,000 sign-on bonus.
New recruits will be tasked with routes on Hong Kong Island, airport and Tung Chung area. Those interested can attend the company's recruitment day, by registering online or by contacting the hotline at 5562 2152.
Human resources consultant Suen Lap-man, director of Watson Consultancy, said a three- or four-day workweek is less likely to become a trend here."This type of schedule is usually found in health care, emergency services, and logistics companies that require shift duties," he said.
"But in HK, most companies are small and medium-sized enterprises. They may have difficulties in scheduling the workforce."Although employees may welcome the policy, Suen said it may also lead to longer working days.
