Century-old lamps to light waterfront

HK Electric has put 50 antique street lamp posts at the Wan Chai waterfront, making it a new landmark for citizens and tourists to take pictures.

Sparkling Glamour of Nostalgia in Wan Chai -the new photography hot spot in Wan Chai will be open from yesterday to January 31, 2025 in Wan Chai's Water Sports and Recreation Theme Zone, from 6pm to 10pm daily.

HK Electric was invited by the Wan Chai District Office to work with the Harbourfront Commission and the District Youth Community Building Committee to build a Time Corridor at the Wan Chai Promenade, which will be covered by HK Electric's electric street lamps from past generations and become a new check-in landmark.

This batch of electric street lamps are all modeled after eight designs that have been used on Hong Kong Island including those as early as 1890.
