Swire Properties' new Taikoo Square at Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay helps increase green open space to 30 percent of the commercial project's total site area, aiming to promote urban biodiversity.Besides, SP worked with ecological expert Billy Hau from the University of Hong Kong to assess the state of urban biodiversity in the area, believing it to be the next frontier in sustainability. 
Launched in mid-June, Taikoo Square was designed by world-renowned landscape architect Kathryn Gustafson. Together with Taikoo Garden and the newly transformed open space at Taikoo Piazza, more than 70,000 square feet of green and open space was added to Taikoo Place, widening the total green and open space to about 30 percent.

Over 260 native and exotic plant species were introduced to enhance the overall ecological value for local wildlife in the two new gardens.
With this, a green corridor formed for birds, butterflies, and other insects as they move between Taikoo Place and neighboring Mount Parker and Quarry Bay Park.
