A 52-year-old woman who allegedly killed her 62-year-old husband over suspicions that he was having an affair will appear in a Fan Ling magistrate’s court today to face a murder charge.
The woman, Law, was escorted to the murder scene for a reenactment of the case for investigators yesterday, before police laid the charge against her.
She is suspected of having suffocated Chung Hei-man with the help of a mattress and a bed frame after he fell while adjusting the frame, police said.
Officers were called in by a 25-yearold man at 11.31 pm after he failed to contact his uncle Chung, 62, and was refused entry to the house by Law when he went to the house in Chai Kek Village, Tai Po, on Saturday night.
On arrival at the scene, police officers found Chung lying unconscious in the bedroom. He was declared dead at the scene.
Chung is believed to have been dead for two to four days by then.
Wearing plaid pants and white shoes, the hooded, handcuffed and chained Law was taken to the scene around 1.05 pm yesterday in a white seven-seater.
Walking with a slight hunch, Law was escorted and supported by two officers into the village house.
The house remained cordoned off, with a large number of investigators present to reconstruct the case.
Some officers were seen holding white cardboards as props to simulate the mattress involved in the case, as well as mannequins to help them understand the crime.
Officers from the identification bureau were also present.
The whole process took more than an hour with identification officers filming the reconstruction, after which Law was taken away.
The couple’s 13-year-old son had been sent to a relative’s late last month and was not present during the suspected murder.
