Cathay's bready beer gets refill

Cathay Pacific Catering Services is partnered with craft beer brand hEROES Beer to deliver its own beer for in-flight meals, and has added a second batch this month.

Cathay Pacific collects soft rolls from in-flight meals and passes them to hEROES, which then makes them into sustainable, recycled craft beer.

When it was launched in October last year, it received a warm response and is now pushing for a second batch.

The beer begins with a firm malt taste like toasted bread and biscuits, followed by hops aromas, like "a drinkable bread."

The product is named "CPCS VHHX Craft Beer - Vienna Lager," with a label showing a Cathay plane flying low over Kowloon City where Kai Tak Airport stood. VHHX is the code for Kai Tak.

Cathay's VHHX will take Hong Kong people on a trip down memory lane while enjoying the delicate flavors.
