An animal welfare group reported a suspected case of dog killing and consumption in So Kwun Wat, Tuen Mun, on Tuesday night, but police found no evidence after investigating.
The Animal Welfare Advocacy Alliance said it received a report from a member of the public around 6pm on Tuesday that a beekeeper in So Kwun Wat Tsuen Road had claimed he would kill a dog wearing a red collar that night and invite villagers to eat it. Alliance members and animal volunteers rushed to the scene and reported hearing a dog cry out once before silence, prompting them to call police.
Police said they received a report at 9.42pm from a man alleging that someone in the area was killing animals for food. Officers entered the unit of a 63-year-old man surnamed Chan to investigate and found no evidence that a dog had been killed or consumed there. The case was classified as a miscellaneous matter.
