HKSTP unveils multi-pillar roadmap to drive global I&T growth at 25th anniversary launch

Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) launched its 25th Anniversary Prelude through a landmark event, “Together to NEXT”, centred on the theme “Innovation. Next by Nature.” The event unveiled a transformative narrative for the region’s innovation and technology (I&T) landscape, underscored by the release of a joint white paper with global tech intelligence platform CB Insights, titled “Inside Asia’s Fast-Track to Global Tech Scale”.

Setting the stage for the next quarter-century, Ms Cordelia Chung, Chairman of HKSTP, outlined her strategic roadmap to advance Hong Kong’s I&T ecosystem across four core dimensions: “Broad and Deep, Far yet Near”. Ms Chung emphasised that HKSTP aims to build an interconnected ecosystem that empowers talent, drives industry convergence, and translates innovation into immediate impact.

Redefining global innovation from the East

The white paper revealed a decisive shift in global tech dynamics: innovation is no longer defined solely by Silicon Valley. Instead, the global landscape is embracing a multipolar framework where Asia leads the crucial “1 to 100” commercialisation and scaling phase. Benchmarking ecosystem strength through CB Insights’ proprietary Mosaic score, evaluating ventures across Management, Money, Market, and Momentum, the report ranks Hong Kong first in Asia and fifth globally with a Mosaic score of 370.

An integrated roadmap powering global ecosystem growth

To translate this regional momentum into enduring global reach, HKSTP’s leadership team outlined an integrated execution roadmap spanning international expansion, infrastructure, human capital, and community integration.

Driving global expansion across Central Asia, Europe, and Southeast Asia, Mr Eric Or, Chief Ecosystem Development Officer, detailed a collaborative loop uniting start-ups, industry, and investors for faster commercialisation, creating a self-reinforcing flywheel effect. On the infrastructure front, Mr Oscar Wong, Acting Chief Business Development Officer, highlighted the seamless corridor connecting Science Park, three InnoParks, and the Shenzhen branch in Futian. By linking research, technology translation, and manufacturing, HKSTP reinforces the industrial value chain for high-value economic growth.

People remain the ultimate catalyst for this transformation. Ms Fanny Wong, Chief Talent Officer, noted that while ideas, investment, and infrastructure are essential, “it is people who turn possibilities into real progress.” Via Talent Pool and Talent Foundry, HKSTP builds a talent pipeline connecting students to rewarding I&T careers. At the community level, Ms Filla Mak, Chief Property and Asset Officer, highlighted efforts to bring cutting-edge tech into daily life through B2C showcases, smart pet zones, and sports tech activations.

Ms Hilda Chan, Chief Marketing Officer, reaffirmed HKSTP’s mission to champion local changemakers on the international stage by uniting visionaries across generations and sectors. “We are determined to strengthen Hong Kong’s leadership position in I&T by shaping an ecosystem that people want to join, contribute to, and grow with,” she said.
