A driver abandoned their white private car and fled the scene after it crashed into roadside railings on Ching Cheung Road in Cheung Sha Wan on Monday night.
The accident occurred around 11.36pm when the car, heading towards Wong Tai Sin, lost control on a left bend near Butterfly Valley and struck the barriers. The driver then left the scene.
Police found items in the vehicle and initially suspected them to be drugs, but further investigation confirmed they were only batteries. Officers are searching for the driver and investigating the cause of the crash.
