Police arrested 31 people in a raid on four suspected illegal gambling dens in Yau Ma Tei on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
Officers from the Yau Tsim district criminal unit raided four commercial and residential units around 7pm following intelligence and investigations.
Those arrested included 18 local men, one foreign man, nine local women, two mainland Chinese women and one foreign woman, aged between 27 and 63. They face charges of operating gambling establishments and gambling in gambling establishments.
Four of the arrested have been charged with operating gambling establishments, while 27 have been charged with gambling in gambling establishments. Their cases will be heard at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts between July 16 and August 7.
Police seized 19 fishing game machines, a batch of gambling paraphernalia and about HK$24,000 in cash.
