Nirvana cover baby dives for money

A 30-year-old man puts a new spin on child pornography in suing rock band Nirvana.

Spencer Elden, who appeared nude at four months of age in 1991 on the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind album, has gone to Federal Court in California to allege the image is child pornography that people profited from.

And as Elden suffered "lifelong damages" from the image of him naked underwater he wants US$150,000 (HK$1.17 million) from each of more than a dozen defendants, including the late Kurt Cobain's estate and Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl.

When the cover was shot, Nirvana was a little-known grunge band, and Elden's father was a friend of a photographer who took pictures of swimming babies.
