A 63-year-old mechanical technician has died following a workplace incident at Ocean Park on Friday morning.
The worker was found unconscious near the summit area of the theme park at around 9.08am, prompting an immediate response from emergency personnel.
Paramedics found the man with serious injuries, including fractures to his skull and shoulder bones.
He was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital for emergency treatment but was certified dead at 10.33am.
The man was found unconscious at a staircase connecting to the park’s facility maintenance workshop, according to Ocean Park.
Officials from the Labour Department arrived at the theme park at around 11am to investigate the park’s operational safety conditions and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police have provisionally classified the case as a person found collapsed, pending further inquiries into the cause of death.
Ocean Park said it was deeply saddened by the death of its colleague, who was certified dead after being sent to hospital by park staff and police.
The park said its management had met the man’s family at the hospital to offer condolences, and would remain in close contact with them to provide all necessary support.
It added that assistance would also be provided to staff as needed during this difficult time, and that the park would assist police in their investigation.
