Supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club since 2013, the event is organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and runs until March 29 (Sun).
It opened with a ceremony attended by Legislative Council President Dr Starry Lee, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law, Permanent Secretary Vivian Sum, Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Manda Chan, Jockey Club Steward Philip Lo, and actress Hera Chan, Miss Hong Kong 2018.
The Jockey Club Charities Trust sponsors community programs to promote greening and horticulture appreciation.
Highlights include the Jockey Club Student Drawing Competition, expecting around 2,200 participants from 250 schools and institutions, and a large-scale student mosaiculture display involving 38 schools.
Families can enjoy the Jockey Club Community Green Playground, featuring interactive games and nature installations made from recycled materials, with CARE@hkjc volunteers guiding children and delivering environmental messages.
Volunteers will later help dismantle displays and replant flowers.
The Jockey Club One Person, One Flower Scheme gives free seedlings to students to encourage gardening, while the “Give the Flowers a New Home!” initiative redistributes plants to schools and non-profits after the show.
Free transport and guided tours are available for seniors, people with disabilities, students, and underprivileged families through the Jockey Club transport subsidy scheme.
The Club’s funding stems from its racing and wagering operations, which support tax revenue, charity, and jobs in Hong Kong.
