At the crack of the starting pistol on Stonecutters Bridge early this morning, over 4,000 cyclists set off on their journey for the charity cycling event "Cycle for Millions".
Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung officiated the starting ceremony around 7am, alongside Director of Immigration Benson Kwok Joon-fung, Deputy Police Commissioner Johnson Chan Joon-sun, retired Olympic medalist Sarah Lee Wai-sze and three-time Asian Games gold medalist Wong Kam-po.
This year's route took participants in the Pok Oi Group on a 13-kilometer journey from Tsing Sha Highway to Stonecutters Bridge via Nam Wan Tunnel, while the elite group pushed on to Ting Kau Bridge for a 21-kilometer journey.
In a social media post this morning, Tang highlighted the significance of the event as it not only supports cycling but also raises funds for youth services at hospitals.

He particularly pointed to the organizers' creative collaboration with cartoon characters, incorporating them into themed event apparel and souvenirs. "Good deeds with creativity add special charm and vitality to charitable initiatives," Tang wrote.
Separately, Kwok stated that the situation of Hong Kong residents stranded in the Middle East amid the tensions has been stabilized.
It is reported that approximately 530 Hongkongers who sought assistance from the Immigration Department had left safely by last Friday (Mar 13). Additionally, 280 individuals indicated they required no further assistance, while the department is assisting around 20 others with return flights.
