Wearable medical technology is transforming daily operations and redefining the human experience with technology at an "unprecedented" rate, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said on Wednesday.
His remarks were made at the opening of the Wearable Technology Conference at Hong Kong Science Park, which focuses on healthcare, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurial innovation.
Sun stated that Hong Kong has a solid foundation in life and health technology and possesses unique research and development advantages.
He highlighted that with five of the world's top 100 universities, the city is poised to drive breakthrough research in life and health technology.
Furthermore, Sun reaffirmed the government's commitment to the sector, noting that the Innovation and Technology Development Blueprint designates life and health technology as a strategic focus for the city.
He added that the government has already launched several support measures to foster growth in the industry.
