Four more Tai Po fire victims discharged, four still hospitalized in stable condition

Four more victims injured in the Tai Po Wang Fuk Court blaze have been discharged from hospital, leaving four patients still receiving treatment in stable condition, the Health Bureau said on Thursday.

The blaze, which occurred two months ago, resulted in 79 injured persons who were treated at various public hospitals.

The Health Bureau said that as of January 27, a total of 75 patients had recovered and been discharged. The remaining four patients are in stable condition and will continue to receive appropriate treatment and care.

The Hospital Authority has also provided necessary medical services to about 1,900 affected residents.

The bureau said it has rolled out a range of support services to meet the primary healthcare needs of affected residents.

As of Tuesday, the free family doctor service scheme had handled 97 referrals, while the free Chinese medicine consultation services had processed 64 referrals. A free dental prosthesis service has also handled 31 referrals.

Hotline services remain active. As of January 27, the 18 District Health Centre hotlines had received 369 calls.

The Emotional Support Hotline 18111 had answered more than 19,500 calls in total, with about 760 related to the fire. More than 900 WhatsApp messages had also been handled, around 50 of which were related to the incident.

The Hospital Authority’s Mental Health Hotline received 107 fire-related calls, including 45 from affected residents.
