Jockey Club to exclusively sponsor Lunar New Year fireworks

Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year fireworks display for the Year of the Horse will light up Victoria Harbour on February 18, the second day of the Lunar New Year, with the Hong Kong Jockey Club serving as the exclusive sponsor of the event.

The 2026 fireworks show will begin at 8pm and is being coordinated by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau. The Jockey Club said it will exclusively sponsor the Year of the Horse display, which will take place over Victoria Harbour to celebrate the festive season and welcome a new year symbolizing vitality and good fortune.

Details of the fireworks program and related festivities will be announced on Friday by Jockey Club Chief Executive Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges at a press conference that will also be attended by horse owner and actor Aaron Kwok and Tourism Commissioner Angelina Cheung Fung Wing-ping.

Last year’s Lunar New Year fireworks, held on the second day of the Year of the Snake, featured more than 20,000 fireworks launched over Victoria Harbour and drew close to 260,000 people to the waterfront on both sides of the harbor to celebrate the holiday.

The annual fireworks display is one of Hong Kong’s signature Lunar New Year events, attracting residents and visitors alike to usher in the new year with a festive spectacle over the city skyline.
