A local company promised employees an HK$8 million grand prize draw where everyone would win something, but participants ended up receiving only a HK$20 Mark Six lottery ticket each, sparking anger and accusations of a scam.
An employee posted photos on social media showing three colleagues holding 26/002 Mark Six losing tickets from January 6, along with the official draw results that showed no first-prize winner that period.
The company had hyped the event as featuring an ultimate $8 million jackpot and guaranteed prizes for all.
After a half-day event, staff were told the HK$8 million would go to whoever held the winning ticket among those distributed.
Many online commenters expressed disbelief, with some joking that the company might demand the prize back if anyone actually won, while others suggested copying the idea for Lunar New Year red packets filled with lottery tickets.
