Cyclist trapped under tram in Wan Chai collision

A non-Chinese man was trapped under a tram after a collision with his bicycle at the junction of Hennessy Road and Tin Lok Lane in Wan Chai on Monday night.

The incident occurred around 9pm. Firefighters and police freed the man, who suffered facial injuries but remained conscious. He was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital.

The bicycle, with two food delivery bags hanging from its handlebars, was lodged under the tram. Trams heading toward Western were backed up with severe service disruptions, and some traffic lanes were closed, causing congestion.

The cause is under investigation.
