A 20-meter-tall Christmas tree and a 3D projection show attracted crowds to the "Winter Wonderland in Central" at Statue Square on Christmas Eve.
Residents and tourists gathered near the tree and around the square from 6pm onward to watch the "Immersive Light Show in Central" projection show, which began at 7pm on landmark buildings including the Court of Final Appeal, the Bank of China Tower and the Hong Kong Club Building.
The festive projections featured reindeer, Santa Claus and snowmen, accompanied by Christmas music.
Shanghai tourist Mr Shen, visiting Hong Kong for the first time, said he was drawn by the giant tree after seeing it from the nearby Ferris wheel. He said the atmosphere felt more lively and festive compared to Christmas markets in Shanghai.
Local resident Mrs Leung, who brought her grandson, said it was her first time seeing the projection show in Hong Kong and found it quite distinctive. She hoped to return next year if her health allowed.
Another visitor praised the show's effects but said the crowds were too large and suggested crowd control measures. He chose the Central event over the West Kowloon Christmas market due to its more convenient location.
