Hong Kong is celebrating a sunny and dry Winter Solstice on Sunday as a northeast monsoon is bringing fine weather to the Guangdong coast, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain clear and dry, with urban temperatures reaching a high of 25 degrees Celsius.
Moderate northeasterly winds will prevail, occasionally strengthening offshore and on high ground later in the day.
A fresh to strong northeast monsoon will continue to affect the Guangdong coast in the next couple of days, leading to windier weather on Monday and Tuesday.
With the monsoon moderating, warmer temperatures are expected on Wednesday.
During the Christmas holidays, temperatures are set to dip under the influence of a replenishment of the monsoon, bringing cooler mornings and evenings, particularly in inland areas.
A dry monsoon will bring fine weather over the weekend, with a wider temperature difference between day and night over inland areas.
