Tai Po district officer apologizes for funeral attire controversy

Tai Po District Officer Eunice Chan Hau-man has apologized on Saturday after her black-and-white dress at a roadside tribute for fallen firefighter Ho Wai-ho drew online criticism for appearing too patterned.

The attire worn by the Tai Po District Officer during yesterday's roadside ceremony for firefighter Ho Wai-ho, who perished in the Wang Fuk Court blaze, sparked public debate over its suitability. Critics online described the dress pattern as overly prominent for the mournful event.

This morning, the Home Affairs Department posted on social media, recognizing the attention drawn to the clothing choice. Chan offered sincere apologies and reiterated profound respect for Ho's sacrifice. 

The statement emphasized that Chan and her team remain committed to managing the fire's aftermath effectively at Wang Fuk Court.
