The photo, shared on a local Facebook group yesterday, showed the woman lying on the footbridge with her bedding and personal belongings beside her.
The poster noted having seen her there both morning and night over the past three months and called for assistance.
Some online users identified the location as the footbridge crossing Lung Cheung Road in Wong Tai Sin.
The post sparked the concerns and sympathy of internet users, with many suggesting ways to help, such as providing a tent for warmth or contacting the police or district councillors.
An update by a netizen who visited on December 15, 2025, at midnight indicated the woman was no longer at the site.
Some comments revealed similar cases across the districts in the city.
“I have witnessed that a middle-aged man picked up food in the garbage to eat,” one commented, while the other added, “There is also an elderly woman who has been sleeping on the streets in Yau Tong for several years without any follow-ups.”
