The MTR Corporation has launched a series of initiatives to facilitate and encourage citizens to cast their votes in the Legislative Council General Election on Sunday.
The first train on the Tuen Ma Line departed Wu Kai Sha Station for Tuen Mun Station at 5.02 am, followed by other lines which also started the first train service in the early morning.
The company stated that it has deployed additional manpower today to assist staff on shift duty in voting, adding that overall railway operations have been smooth and orderly.
Rex Auyeung Pak-kuen, and Jacob Kam Chak-pui, the company's chief executive officer, visited the Election Committee Constituency Polling Station this morning to cast their votes, both on behalf of the corporation and as individuals.

After voting, Kam visited Admiralty Station to show support for colleagues on the morning shift and to encourage them to vote to help build a better Hong Kong.
“As an operator of major mass transit services, MTR Corporation has been actively cooperating with the government's publicity efforts and supporting the government and related organisations in promoting public voting in the community,” the corporation said.
It has been actively promoting voter participation through various channels, including outdoor TVs of MTR Properties, as well as promotional platforms across stations, trains, and shopping malls, to encourage citizens to fulfil their civic responsibility.
The Corporation also cooperated with the Registration and Electoral Office to display banners and directional signage near the entrances and exits of Sheung Shui Station on the East Rail Line, which is located near the Near Boundary Polling Stations.

It deployed additional staff to facilitate and assist voters heading to the polling stations at Hong Kong Taoist Association Tang Hin Memorial Secondary School and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Kap Yan Directors’ College in Sheung Shui.
Furthermore, the Corporation encourages its employees to take action by actively participating in the voting.
