Police issued 642 fixed penalty tickets and arrested a 39-year-old man during an anti-illegal parking operation in Yau Tsim district on Tuesday.
The operation, codenamed MOVESKY, involved Yau Tsim police district and West Kowloon traffic unit officers targeting traffic blackspots.
Eight vehicles causing serious traffic obstruction were towed away. Officers arrested a non-ethnic Chinese man on suspicion of driving without a valid license, operating an unregistered vehicle, driving without third-party insurance and riding without an approved protective helmet.
From January through October this year, Yau Tsim police district has issued 173,661 fixed penalty tickets. Police said the enforcement aims to improve driving behaviors that could lead to traffic accidents.
The district will continue strict enforcement to ensure traffic flow and enhance road safety awareness among users. Police urged drivers to obey traffic rules and avoid illegal parking for convenience.
