A major saltwater pipe that ruptured on Wan Po Road near Pak Shing Kok Road in Tseung Kwan O around midday Tuesday has been successfully repaired much faster than expected, with flushing water supplies restored and affected lanes set to reopen by 8pm.
The 900-millimeter main supplies flushing water to large parts of the district, including LOHAS Park, Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate, Shek Kok Road, Pak Shing Kok, and Oscar By the Sea. Residents in Tseung Kwan O South and Tiu Keng Leng had faced low pressure or interruptions to toilet flushing since the burst, but the Water Supplies Department confirmed service returned to normal around 7 p.m.
Two northbound lanes had been closed for emergency work, blocking the right turn from the Kowloon-bound carriageway into Pak Shing Kok Road and forcing KMB routes 290E and 290X towards Tsuen Wan West, along with Citybus 793, to divert. All lanes are now scheduled to reopen by 8 p.m., well ahead of the original midnight target.
The department thanked residents for their patience and said it had kept the Sai Kung District Office and local councillors fully updated throughout the swift repair operation.
