Nearly 100 evacuated after flames erupt in Kai Ching Estate, no injuries

A fire at Kai Ching Estate in Kowloon Bay prompted the evacuation of nearly 100 residents on Tuesday afternoon, though no injuries were reported.

The blaze broke out at about 2.27pm inside a unit at Lok Ching House, sending flames, thick smoke and several bursts of explosions out of the flat.

Dozens of residents were evacuated to the open area outside the building as firefighters arrived at the scene.

The Fire Services Department deployed one water jet and a breathing apparatus team to battle the flames. The fire was brought under control in roughly 20 minutes.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
