Police intercept $150m cocaine shipment, arrest three in Pok Fu Lam

Hong Kong police have arrested three local men after seizing 228 kilograms of suspected cocaine worth HK$150 million on Wednesday (Nov 19), marking the city’s third-largest drug bust this year.

Officers said a trafficking group attempted to smuggle the drugs into Hong Kong via sea routes for local distribution. During a targeted operation in Pok Fu Lam, the men were observed unloading a large quantity of suspected cocaine from the beach onto a light truck along an unlit path.

Police intercepted the truck, arresting one man, and later apprehended two others attempting to flee. The three men, aged 22–25, resisted arrest but were subdued. A total of 228 bricks of suspected cocaine, each weighing 1kg, were recovered from the truck and the surrounding shoreline.

The three suspects, all reported as unemployed, were identified as the truck driver and two drug handlers. Some are known to have triad links. They have been provisionally charged with trafficking dangerous drugs and obstructing a police officer. Their cases are scheduled to be mentioned at Kwun Tong Magistrates’ Courts on Nov 22.

Police said the operation prevented a major shipment from entering the local market and warned that traffickers would face severe penalties, including fines up to HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
