The Senegalese-Italian influencer kicked off a 13-day trip to China on September 9, visiting ten cities including Beijing, Tianjin, and Nanjing, before wrapping up his journey in Hong Kong.
As documented on the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s (HKTB) social platforms, his itinerary mixed cultural immersion with urban discovery.
Lame learned the traditional Fire Dragon Dance under expert guidance and visited Tai O, where he made salted eggs, explored stilt houses, and toured the Tai O Heritage Hotel.
Captivated by the fishing village’s calm atmosphere, Lame said, “Sitting on the boat, watching the sunset reflect on the water felt incredibly relaxing.”
His Hong Kong experience also showcased the city’s rich food culture — from the smoky “wok hei,” the charred aroma from Cantonese stir-fries at a Sham Shui Po dai pai dong to a British-style afternoon tea at a historic five-star hotel.
He marveled at chefs tossing woks over open flames and enjoyed the peaceful views of a resort in the Southern District.
One standout moment was the personalized LED light display at Kai Tak Sports Park, which lit up with the message: “Hong Kong Welcomes Khaby & You.”
Lame also stepped into the role of DJ, spinning tracks to classic Cantopop hits as he experienced Hong Kong’s vibrant nightlife.
The HKTB’s video documenting his visit, posted on Instagram on Tuesday (Nov 18), has already drawn more than 20,000 likes, with fans warmly welcoming his appearance in the city.
According to the HKTB, Lame’s visit forms part of a broader initiative to attract international travelers by tapping into the influence of global creators. By immersing influencers in Hong Kong’s diverse lifestyle offerings, the board aims to showcase new facets of the city and generate positive word-of-mouth abroad.
The HKTB said that more than 440 influencers — with a combined follower base exceeding 400 million — have been invited to Hong Kong this year, covering themes ranging from major events and the arts to food culture.
Lame, who has amassed over 160 million followers on TikTok, is best known for his silent comedic videos that humorously dismantle convoluted “life hacks,” inspiring countless memes and stickers across social media.
