A 77-year-old man at a Fanling care home was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly smashing a kettle into the head of an 80-year-old fellow resident during a dispute over noise, leaving the victim bleeding and in need of hospital treatment.
The incident unfolded around 4pm yesterday at the facility on 18 Wu Tip Shan Road.
Police believe the argument escalated when the younger resident grabbed the kettle and struck the elderly victim on the head.
Paramedics rushed the injured man to North District Hospital for treatment of his wounds.
Officers arriving at the scene detained the 77-year-old on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
