At around 11.30pm that night, police received a report that a man had been found lying unconscious inside a unit at Wong Wui House of Queens Hill Estate.
Officers arrived to find a 35-year-old man with sutured wounds. He was rushed to North District Hospital in an unconscious state and was pronounced dead the following day.
Initial investigations showed that the victim had sought medical treatment on October 18, telling medical staff the stab wounds were self-inflicted. He was discharged after receiving treatment.
Further inquiries, however, led police to suspect the injuries had been inflicted by the man’s female friend. The case was subsequently reclassified as manslaughter, and the woman was arrested on October 24.
She has been charged with one count of manslaughter and her case will be mentioned at Fanling Magistrates’ Courts this afternoon.
The police force’s Tai Po District Crime Squad is continuing its investigation.
