Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu has called on the youth to demonstrate their sense of responsibility by participating in social affairs, including voting in the December Legislative Council election.
Speaking as Chief Scout at a Scout Rally on Sunday, Lee highlighted the crucial role of the Scout Association of Hong Kong—the largest uniformed youth organization in the region with over 34,000 members—in promoting youth development and aligning with the government's youth development policies.
Lee congratulated the Association on successfully securing the opportunity to host the 29th Asia-Pacific Scout Conference in 2028. He described the achievement as both a prized international exchange opportunity for local youth and a mark of global confidence in Hong Kong as a hub for mega events.
"Hong Kong will only flourish if our youths thrive, "Lee stated, outlining key initiatives from his recent policy address aimed at empowering the younger generation.
The measures include the launch of a Young Talent Training Program and the trial operation of the "Youth Post" hostel at Kai Tak, which will feature activities encompassing culture, arts, sports, and more to foster interaction between local and overseas youth.
Additionally, interactive youth spaces at Youth Square in Chai Wan and the Nam Cheong District Community Centre are also in place for networking and engagement.
Lee encouraged young people to leverage these government-supported platforms for their personal growth.
He concluded by calling on them to develop a spirit of unity and responsibility into concrete action—by engaging in social affairs and fulfilling their civic duty to choose talented leaders at the LegCo on December 7.
