Gas stove explosion in Fanling leaves two injured

A man and a woman sustained burns after a gas stove exploded at a village house in Tung Kok Wai, Fanling, on Friday (Oct 24) morning.

Firefighters received a report at around 11am of thick smoke and an explosion coming from the house. They arrived promptly and extinguished the fire by 11.29am.

Both individuals remained conscious and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest the explosion was caused by a leak in the stove’s gas hose. Police and Electrical and Mechanical Services Department personnel attended the scene to inspect the gas cylinder, stove, and charred debris.
