St. Paul's School (Lam Tin) has launched an investigation after an online post accused a former male teacher of inviting a female student to a hotel under the pretext of “talking about personal matters” and allegedly asking for sex.
The allegation surfaced last Saturday on social media platform Threads, where a user claiming to be a student of the Catholic girls’ school said the incident involved a substitute male teacher who had contacted her privately.
According to the post, the teacher invited her to a hotel “to talk,” repeatedly assuring her that he was “a decent man” and had “no other intentions.”
The student wrote that she trusted the teacher because he had always maintained a respectable image and she believed he would uphold basic moral standards. However, once at the hotel, the teacher allegedly asked to engage in sexual activity.
In response to media inquiries, the school said it was taking the matter “very seriously” and had immediately set up a crisis management team to handle the case. It has also reported the incident to the Education Bureau but has yet to confirm the authenticity of the online claims.
When reporters visited the campus on Monday morning, some students said they were unaware of the case, while others said the incident had actually taken place several years ago and that the teacher in question had already left the school. One student added that the school was expected to address the matter in a morning assembly.
Attempts to interview the school principal were unsuccessful. Administrative staff told reporters that the investigation was ongoing and that the school had no further comment at this stage.
