A 31-year-old man was arrested for illegally setting off fireworks in Yuen Long's Shan Ha Tsuen during Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations early Tuesday.
Residents reported the incident around 12:48 am after witnessing approximately 30 seconds of aerial fireworks near a village parking lot. Security footage showed bright flashes accompanied by loud explosions that reportedly disturbed villagers, frightened pets, and caused distress to infants.

Villagers expressed concerns about fireworks debris damaging four vehicles and potentially endangering nearby electrical boxes and liquefied petroleum gas installations common in rural houses.
Police arriving at the scene discovered used fireworks and debris on four vehicle roofs. The arrested man, surnamed Wong, faces charges of illegal possession and discharge of fireworks. Investigation continues.
