Police car, taxi collide in Yau Ma Tei intersection

A police car and a taxi collided at a Yau Ma Tei intersection early Tuesday, with authorities investigating whether a traffic light violation caused the accident.

The incident occurred around 4:30 am at the junction of Lai Cheung Road and Hoi Wang Road. The taxi was traveling along Lai Cheung Road toward the fruit market direction when it collided with a police vehicle from the Traffic Department.

Both vehicles sustained front-end damage, but no injuries were reported.

The police car was reportedly on patrol in the area at the time. Initial investigations suggest a red light violation may have caused the collision. The taxi's direction of travel is equipped with a red light camera.
