Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said in his policy address on Wednesday (Sep 17) that the government is dedicated to facilitating visits to patriotic education facilities in the Mainland, while actively promoting Chinese culture.

The city leader pointed out that Hong Kong will include the facilities at patriotic education bases in the HKSAR to encourage more students and young people to visit them.
“We will establish close connection with patriotic groups to unite efforts in organizing more patriotic education activities,” Lee said.
He noted that the Education Bureau (EDB) will also integrate patriotic education into daily learning and teaching.
The government will popularize the "Love Our Home, Treasure Our Country" series of activities, strengthen the Constitution and Basic Law Student Ambassadors Training Scheme, design itineraries for students to experience the founding history of the country, and conduct focus inspections on national education.
Lee also highlighted that the authorities will provide professional development and activities for teachers and students that tie in with the updated national security education, promulgate the final version of the Values Education Curriculum Framework, and optimize the curriculum frameworks for the senior secondary Chinese History and History subjects.
The Chinese Culture Promotion Office will focus on curating the Chinese Culture Festival and exhibitions of the General History of China series as signature projects, and spearheading the establishment of a museum to showcase the nation’s development and achievements, as well as the Chinese Culture Experience Centre.
Separately, the government will collaborate with Shenzhen to promote a new red educational route, to enhance understanding among Hong Kong citizens and tourists of the history of the War of Resistance in the city.
Lee added that the authorities will review and conduct restoration and protection work on historic sites related to the Communist Party of China's participation in the War of Resistance in various districts, with a view to integrating them into tourism routes and educational activities.
