Macau leader urges active involvement in Legislative Assembly Election on Sun

Chief Executive of Macau Sam Hou-fai encouraged citizens to actively participate in the 8th Legislative Assembly election, which took place on Sunday (Sep 14).

The city leader noted that the incumbent government considered the election, which is the first since the Assembly's reform to implement the principle of "patriots administering Macao", to be its most significant political activity.

Sam emphasized the importance of collective involvement in electing patriotic representatives to the new-term Legislative Assembly.

During his inspection, Sam noted that the queuing situation was ideal and that voters were in an orderly manner, praising the overall election atmosphere.

He added that the 38 direct-election polling stations, five polling stations for indirect-election voting, and 29 election service points all operated smoothly. 

The polls opened at 9am and are scheduled to close at 9pm.
