Tang told lawmakers on Wednesday (Sep 10) that since the resumption of the multi-entry permit scheme last year, an average of 4.1 mainland visitors per month have been arrested for engaging in unauthorized work in the city.
He stressed that the Immigration Department has been rigorously screening visitors, conducting individual assessments of those making frequent trips to the city.
Tang noted that the government takes the issue seriously and law enforcement authorities have adopted a multi-pronged approach to combat illegal labor activities.
