AAHK said it will activate the Airport Emergency Centre after the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 is hoisted to coordinate with various companies and organizations of the airport community to formulate and implement contingency measures.
Except for the Airport Express Line, land transport between the city and the airport will be suspended or maintain limited service when the T8 typhoon signal is in force.
AAHK will activate the Taxi Queue Ticket System to let passengers receive queue numbers via ticket kiosks or a mobile application, without having to wait in line for taxis.
A temporary rest area equipped with 500 chairs, mobile charging stations, and additional amenities will be set up for passengers in the terminal. Extra staff will be deployed to provide assistance to passengers and distribute essential supplies such as bottled water, snacks and blankets.
Some of the restaurants and convenience stores at the airport will continue to operate during the typhoon, with some opening 24 hours.
To maintain adequate staffing for airport operations and passenger services, two staff rest centers will also be established with a capacity for over 400 employees.
AAHK noted that the Flight Rescheduling Control System will manage flight operations on Monday and will continue to monitor the situation to maintain ongoing communication with airlines and the Civil Aviation Department.
AAHK advises passengers to check with their airlines for the latest flight information and proceed to the airport only when their seats and flight time are confirmed.
