Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu will lead a delegation of about 360 members from various sectors to Beijing to attend the commemorative activities of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War to be held on September 3.
The activities include a commemorative rally and military parade in the morning and a cultural gala in the evening.
The delegation aims to represent a broad cross-section of Hong Kong society.
Its composition includes principal government officials, representatives from the judiciary, the Legislative Council, and District Councils.
The group will also feature individuals who participated in the war effort, veterans, and their family members.
Furthermore, delegates have been invited from a diverse range of community sectors, including regional groups, business and Chinese-state-owned enterprises, education, innovation and technology, media, religious organizations, as well as youth, student, and general citizen representatives.
Chief Executive Lee will depart for Beijing on Tuesday and is scheduled to return to Hong Kong on September 4.
During his absence, Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan Kwok-ki will assume the duties of Acting Chief Executive. Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun will serve as Acting Financial Secretary, and Deputy Secretary for Justice Horace Cheung Kwok-kwan will act as Secretary for Justice.
