A disturbing video of a woman violently assaulting her boyfriend outside Sha Tin Town Hall has gone viral online, sparking outrage and heated debate among netizens.
The footage, uploaded on social media on Tuesday evening, shows the man being dragged by his hair, punched repeatedly, and struck with a phone before fleeing barefoot as his enraged girlfriend chased him down the street.

The clip begins with the woman gripping the man’s hair and forcing him to the ground before relentlessly punching his head.
Despite his attempts to shield himself, she then grabs her phone and smashes it against his skull multiple times, causing him to writhe in pain. Onlookers behind a nearby restaurant window can be heard commenting, “Only a boyfriend would get beaten like this!”
After a desperate struggle, the man finally breaks free, losing a shoe in the process, and sprints away with the woman in pursuit. According to the uploader, restaurant staff called the police, but the couple had already fled the scene.
Many condemned the attacker’s brutality, with comments like “She’s terrifying!” and “This is way too violent!”
Others criticized the man for not fighting back, calling him “useless” and mocking Hong Kong men as “a weak minority.” However, some defended his restraint, arguing that he was deliberately avoiding retaliation: “He was only trying to defend himself and escape—that deserves respect, not ridicule.”
Several commenters claiming to know the couple revealed that they have a volatile relationship, with frequent public fights.
One alleged, “They’ve been dating for about six months and fight every other day—the guy always ends up bruised.” Another added, “The girl has a terrible temper and picks fights everywhere.”
Despite these claims, no concrete evidence has surfaced to verify the couple’s background.
The incident has reignited discussions about domestic violence, gender dynamics, and public safety, with many expressing sympathy for the man. As one netizen put it: “If he fights back, he’s a bully; if he doesn’t, he’s weak. There’s no winning.”
