Tokyo's acclaimed Ramenya Shima to open Hong Kong store

Hong Kong ramen enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as Tokyo's celebrated Ramenya Shima—currently ranked among Japan's top three ramen shops on Tabelog—announced plans to expand to the city.

The New Shinjuku-based establishment, which holds an impressive 3.99/5 rating on Japan's premier restaurant review platform, made the revelation via an August 6 social media post noting temporary closure from August 12 to 15 for "Hong Kong expansion preparations." 

While details remain unclear about whether this will be a pop-up or permanent location, the news has generated significant buzz among foodies.

Since its 2020 debut, Ramenya Shima has earned critical acclaim including TRY Ramen Awards' "Best Newcomer" distinction. It currently ranks #2 in Tokyo and #4 nationally on Tabelog's competitive ramen rankings.

The shop's signature shoyu (soy sauce) ramen features a meticulously crafted broth blending free-range Japanese chicken, pork bone, seafood, and artisanal soy sauces. 

Each bowl comes adorned with char siu pork, truffle-infused chicken breast, wontons, and premium accompaniments.

Notably, the Japanese store operates on an exclusive reservation system, releasing around 60 bowls daily via online bookings that open at 8am one day prior. Hong Kong operations specifics await official announcement.

With its exact location and opening date still undisclosed, the expansion promises to bring authentic Tokyo ramen craftsmanship to Hong Kong's vibrant dining scene.
