Hong Kong’s eighth community living room, located in Prince Edward, has commenced full operation and is aiming to serve 80,000 residents from 500 subdivided flat households annually.
The 5,000-square-foot facility is the first community living room to simultaneously serve households in both the Yau Tsim Mong and Sham Shui Po districts.
It features multiple functional zones, including a lounge area, self-service laundry station, reading corner, fitness space, and soundproof pods. Regular services such as homework assistance and health check-ups are also available.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki noted that the flagship project marks the fourth living room opened within the year, surpassing the target of three set in the Policy Address.
Chan highlighted that the facility benefits from a central location with easy transport links and provides services to connect residents with various community resources.
The government will also open another living room in Kowloon City this year, which is expected to serve 600,000 residents from 4,000 households annually.
