The Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo is set to bring a refreshing sports experience to the public starting next Wednesday (Jul 16), in anticipation of the upcoming National Games and Paralympic Games at the end of the year.
This one-week event, taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will feature various activities, including drone soccer, e-dodgeball, and street workouts.
Visitors can also participate in an interactive video game experience simulating aquathlon competitions provided by the Triathlon Association of Hong Kong.
Andy Yeung King-sheung, chairman of the DNT FPV Drone Association, expressed his excitement that drone soccer has been included as a Mass Participation Event in the 15th National Games.
Yeung pointed out that Hong Kong's drone technology has advanced rapidly, expanding beyond photography to encompass entertainment and sports competitions.
"Some local schools began offering drone education programs as early as 2020," he noted, adding that an increasing number of schools are now allocating resources to drone-related curricula.
He added that a total of 12 major drone competitions will be held in the city this year, with over 120 student teams participating.
