Hopefuls for civil service roles will need to ditch the paperwork and go digital starting July 1, as applications must now be submitted electronically, unless an exception is clearly spelled out, says Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung Ho Poi-yan.
The authorities have decided to prioritize user convenience by leveraging technology familiar to the general public – aligning with the development of e-government and enhancing recruitment efficiency, Yeung wrote in a social media post on Sunday.
By late May this year, the authorities introduced a digitized version of the Basic Law and National Security Law Test for civil servants. Candidates can register online, choose their exam time, take the test at a recruitment center, and receive same-day results.
Yeung said the new setup lets candidates take the test year-round, get results the same day, and helps cut government costs such as hiring temporary invigilators.
