Water pipe burst causes road closure in Yau Tong, traffic disruptions reported

A major underground water pipe burst on Cha Kwo Ling Road in Yau Tong on Friday afternoon, spewing muddy water onto the roadway and forcing a full closure of the affected section.

The incident occurred around 4pm today near the seawater pumping station, where the ruptured pipe flooded two traffic lanes, leaving vehicles to navigate through the murky water. 

Police were alerted and coordinated with the Water Services Department (WSD) to shut off the main valve. Repair crews have cordoned off the site for emergency fixes.

The Transport Department announced that Cha Kwo Ling Road towards the Kwun Tong direction between the Lam Tin Interchange and Yau Tong Road is fully closed due to damage. 

Heavy traffic congestion has been reported in the area, with authorities urging drivers to seek alternative routes.
