A series of collisions on San Tin Highway caused massive traffic disruptions on Monday afternoon, with all lanes toward Yuen Long completely closed after a multi-vehicle pileup.
The first accident occurred at 1pm near Man Tin Cheung Park when a truck carrying goods reportedly broke down on the roadside. A dump truck was said to have crashed into the stationary vehicle's right rear, pushing it sideways across all lanes. Moments later, a van collided with the dump truck in a chain-reaction crash.
The impact left the dump truck's front end severely damaged, with both truck drivers injured and requiring hospitalization. Authorities were forced to close all Yuen Long-bound lanes, creating a traffic congestion stretching to near Kam Tsin Village on Fanling Highway by afternoon.

Just 32 minutes later, a second multi-vehicle collision involving a heavy goods vehicle, private car and bus occurred on the Tai Po-bound carriageway near Shek Wu Hui.
While the investigation continues into this separate incident, it has temporarily blocked traffic toward Tai Po.
The Transport Department said all Yuen Long-bound lanes of San Tin Highway near San Tin Interchange are still closed to all traffic. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, including Castle Peak Road.
Several major bus routes including KMB's 978 and 279X, as well as Long Win Bus A43, are operating detours. Commuters should check operators' websites or mobile apps for real-time service updates amid continuing congestion.
