To be set up in the Siu Sai Wan Health Integrated Building, the core center spans across a total floor area of about 1,000 square metres, which will be three times larger than the current Eastern DHC Express, providing additional consultation rooms, rehabilitation facilities and an audio-visual assessment room.
As written in the operation service contract, the HKSR needs to open two satellite facilities in the district during its inaugural year of service to improve community access.
The main center and both satellite locations will maintain a six-day weekly schedule, offering daily operations of at least 10 hours.
Meanwhile, the Yan Chai Hospital Board will take over operations of the Kwai Tsing DHC when the current service contract expires in the third quarter of this year, current members can continue using services without any re-registration process.
The new operator is required to establish four satellite centers across the district within the first year of operation.
Together with the main center, all five facilities will maintain consistent operating hours of at least 10 hours per day, six days a week, to ensure accessible healthcare services for the community.
The Primary Healthcare Commission stated it will oversee a smooth handover process, working closely with both outgoing and incoming operators to transfer service operations and premises.
