This marks the final step in implementing the contactless payment system across all government-owned tunnels, allowing drivers to pass through without stopping to pay.
The Transport Department reminded vehicle owners who have not yet obtained their HKeToll tags, opened accounts, or set up automatic payment to allow at least five working days for processing their applications.
With the transition, the existing Autotoll lanes at Tai Lam Tunnel will be discontinued.
Drivers currently using prepaid Autotoll accounts to pay tunnel fees will need to switch to alternative payment methods after canceling their Autotoll accounts and receiving refunds for any remaining balances.
Those wishing to maintain Autotoll for other services must ensure a minimum 10-centimeter separation between their HKeToll tags and Autotoll transponders to prevent signal interference.
