During the operation, Hong Kong Customs officials confiscated around 70,000 counterfeit items from four devanning areas located in Kwai Chung, Tsing Yi, Yuen Long, and Tin Shui Wai. The seized items included a wide range of products such as wristwatches, mobile phones and accessories, jerseys, and shoes.
The two individuals arrested in connection with the seizures have been released on bail pending further investigations.
Officials highlighted that criminals often utilize remote or concealed locations to facilitate the transshipment of counterfeit goods. The seized items were of notably high craftsmanship and quality, which significantly contributed to their estimated market value.
Customs authorities have identified that about 60 to 70 percent of these counterfeit goods were destined for countries in the Middle East and Africa.
This marks a notable shift from the traditional destinations of Europe and America, indicating a change in the dynamics of counterfeit goods trafficking.
